The Slavin Family Childrenís Library has now closed its doors. The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles has created the Slavin Children's Center under the auspices of The Zimmer Children's Museum, using the space previously housing the Slavin Family Childrenís Library. This program space will open in July, 2013.
For further information on the Slavin Children's Center, please contact the Zimmer Museum at 323.761.8984, or find them at zimmermuseum.org.
As part of the transition of the former Slavin Children's Library, numerous inquiries were received regarding disposition of the Slavinís books and games. After careful consideration, it was decided that the majority of the books will be best utilized and accessed by our community at the following locations:
- Tashbar Torat Hayim Hebrew Academy - 1210 S. La Cienega Boulevard, L.A.
- Jewish Learning Exchange - 512 N. La Brea Avenue, L.A.
- Bubbie's Library (Chabad Santa Monica) - 1428 17th Street, Santa Monica
- American Jewish University (AJU) - 15600 Mulholland Drive (off the 405 Fwy.)
These books will be available to the public at these locations that include the neighborhood formerly served by the Slavin Library. The remainder of the books have been distributed through a system which allowed communal organizations that had previously inquired about books to receive some for their institutional libraries.
